Online Science Day
The Korean National Science Museum’s Online Science Festival was a two-week digital event featuring more than 50 programs for audiences of all ages.
The challenge was to redesign the festival schedule so users could quickly find, understand, and keep track of events across desktop, tablet, and mobile without feeling overwhelmed.
54% Fewer Navigation Issues
28% Fewer Missed Events
My Role
I worked across the full design process, from user research and UX design to UI design and front-end development.
I turned user needs and content requirements into a responsive schedule and built the final interface for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Key Design Decisions
Replacing the Event List with a Calendar
The previous schedule displayed events in a long list, making it difficult to find specific dates and understand when events were happening.
I replaced the list with a familiar calendar layout so users could quickly scan dates and weekdays. This made the schedule easier to navigate and helped users keep track of upcoming events.
Showing Information When It Is Needed
With more than 50 events, showing every detail at once made the schedule difficult to scan, especially on smaller screens.
I showed only the most important information on the calendar and moved full event details to a separate page. Direct access buttons also helped users reach the information they needed with fewer steps.
Making Events Easier to Scan and Remember
Research showed that different audiences had different challenges. Younger users could lose focus in long lists, while parents needed to quickly identify suitable events for their children.
I added event images, shorter text, and color-coded age groups to create clearer visual hierarchy. A save feature also allowed users to keep track of events they were interested in.

Outcome
Compared with last year’s survey results, overall satisfaction increased from 35% to 72%.
The percentage of users who missed scheduled events decreased from 56% to 28%, while users who struggled to navigate the schedule decreased from 72% to 18%.
I also completed the front-end development of the redesigned experience. Try it out below!
