Koki
Koki is a solo project exploring how AI can make ordering Korean food easier for people unfamiliar with Korean cuisine.
While working as a server at a Korean restaurant in Toronto, I noticed that customers often struggled to understand unfamiliar dishes, choose options, and make decisions. The challenge was to create a clearer and more guided ordering experience that helps customers understand Korean dishes and make decisions with confidence.
My Role
I worked as the sole product designer, handling the project from concept ideation and user research to UX design, UI design, and prototyping.
Key Design Decisions
AI-Powered Menu Assistant
While working as a server at a Korean restaurant, I served around 30 tables per shift. Over one week, I observed how customers interacted with the menu and identified three key patterns. 63% of customers struggled to decide what to order.
To make this easier, I introduced a chat-based assistant that helps users explore the menu and get personalized recommendations through a simple conversation.
Immediate Visual Feedback
Some orders were missing selected options or customizations, leading to mistakes during ordering.
I designed option selections to provide clear, immediate feedback so users could easily confirm that their choices had been added to the order.
Clearer Information and Order Review
Many customers needed to review their choices and know the exact price before placing an order.
I displayed selected options, special requests, and the total price directly in the cart so users could easily review their order before checkout.
I also made key dish information and order details easier to understand at a glance.
